The organiser runs the whole thing, from invites to gift day, without seeing a pair. You can see who has joined and how it's going, and that's all.

  • No screen shows who drew whom. If the organiser picks a reveal, after the day everyone finds out who had them and the organiser sees every pair.
  • Someone drops out after the draw? Replace them and a few people are quietly redrawn, so nobody can work out a match.
  • Reserve a gift on someone's wishlist and they'll never see it.
  • Fewer than four people? You'll hear it first: with so few, everyone could work out the pairs.

Questions, answered

Is it really free?

Yes. Giftnote Secret Santa is free for families, friends and teams, and there are no ads.

Does everyone need an account?

No. People you invite tap Continue in their email and they're in. Anyone joining from a shared link confirms their email with a 6-digit code first. There's never a password, and an account only keeps your Secret Santas and wishlists in one place.

Can the organiser see who drew whom?

Only if the organiser picks a reveal, and only from the day after gift day. Until then nobody can, organiser included: the organiser sees who has joined and added a wishlist, and how many people have seen their page since the draw, but never a pair.

Is this the same as Kris Kringle?

Yes. Secret Santa, Kris Kringle, a gift swap: same idea. Everyone draws one person and buys them a gift within the budget.

What if someone drops out after the draw?

Remove or replace them from your dashboard. A few other people are quietly redrawn at the same time, so nobody can work out anyone else's match. Anyone who has already bought a gift keeps their person.

Can couples avoid drawing each other?

Yes. Pair them up as a couple and they won't draw each other. You can add other rules too, like siblings or housemates.

Do we ever find out who had us?

You decide before anyone joins: never, or the day after the exchange, when each person finds out who had them and the organiser sees every pair. Everyone sees that choice before they join, and it's locked once you draw.

What happens to my email address?

It's used to run your Secret Santa: your invite, your person and the reminders your organiser sends. Every email has a one-tap link to stop them.
